Employment Visa
Foreign nationals must obtain a Residence Visa to establish long-term residency, while those desiring employment must also acquire a work permit. Both documents are essential for individuals seeking to live and work legally in RAK.
Freelance Visa
A visa option that enables individuals to reside in the UAE for a duration of up to 1 year, providing them with a long-term stay opportunity. The work categories covered by a freelance permit are Information and Technology, Media and Entertainment, Education and Tutoring, and Consultancy and Advisory.
Tourist Visa
Tourist visa types can vary depending on the number of days you wish to stay in RAK – 14, 30, 60, and 90 single/multiple entries are available, and the visa takes 24-72 working hours to process. The visa expires as soon as you depart RAK.
Student Visa
Any non-GCC foreign national wishing to pursue studies in RAK should obtain a mandatory UAE Student Visa. However, the first step involves securing admission into a recognized higher education institution in the UAE, as the visa application process is handled by the respective school.
Family Visa
Family visas are specifically designed for dependents of investors or employees who are actively working in the country. These visas are directly tied to the employment status of the earning family member, and it is important to note that individuals holding such visas cannot remain absent from the UAE for more than 6 consecutive months.
Residence Visa
Investor visas are available to individuals who invest in a company or hold shares
in it. These visas are valid for a period of up to 3 years, but it is important to note that if the visa holder remains absent from the UAE for more than 6 consecutive months, the visa will be automatically revoked.
Retirement Visa
Individuals aged 55 plus must meet one of two criteria to apply for a 5-year visa:
- Have a minimum of 15 years of work experience or be at least 55 years old.
- Additionally, they should own properties worth AED1 million or savings of at least AED1 million.
- OR demonstrate a monthly income of AED 20,000.
Golden Visa
The Golden visa allows foreign talents to reside, work, or study in the UAE with added advantages, such as renewable visas for up to 5 or 10 years without needing a sponsor. Eligible individuals include investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, exceptional students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers, and frontline heroes.

Educators Golden Visa
The Ras Al Khaimah Government has introduced a Golden Visa program for Educators, which will be facilitated through the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge (RAK DOK) specifically for private school educators residing in the Emirate. This initiative grants long-term residency to eligible educators, allowing them to be self-sponsored, thereby supporting Ras Al Khaimah’s aim to attract and retain exceptional talent in the education sector.
- Who Can Apply: The program is open to two main categories:
- School Leaders: Principals, vice principals, and school directors.
- Teachers: All qualified educators currently employed in private schools in Ras Al Khaimah.
- Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum of three years of residency and employment in Ras Al Khaimah.
- A relevant advanced degree.
- Proven positive impact on school performance.
As the regulatory authority, RAK DOK will oversee the application process to ensure educators meet the specified criteria, further strengthening the educational landscape in Ras Al Khaimah.
