In Ras Al Khaimah, you’ll find many private and public nurseries and schools that provide education for students from kindergarten to grade 12. These schools offer different educational programs based on the UAE Ministry of Education, UK, US, IB, Indian, SABIS, Pakistan, and Bangladesh curricula. School is mandatory in the United Arab Emirates for all children, including expat children, ages 6 to 18. Emirati nationals can attend government schools for free, but expats must pay a fee for public and private schools. In public schools, education is available in both English and Arabic as a first language.
Ras Al Khaimah is home to 107 schools – 73 public and 34 private establishments – including Ras Al Khaimah Academy. Eight schools in Ras Al Khaimah offer the UK curriculum, two offer the US curriculum and several institutes offer the international baccalaureate program, in addition to a number of Indian and Pakistani schools. Several higher education institutions are also based in the Emirate, including the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, RAK Medical & Health Sciences University and the Higher Colleges of Technology. This is in addition to several international universities that have set up branches in the Emirate, notably the University of Bolton and the University of Stirling, both from the UK.
In higher education, there are various internationally recognized universities in Ras Al Khaimah. Of these, four Universities are approved by the UAE’s Ministry of Education’s Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), and 9 are international branch campuses licensed by RAKEZ Academic Zone. These universities provide various degree programs, including bachelor’s, master’s, and one doctoral program. They offer a wide range of programs, such as law, IT, education, engineering, media, health, pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, nursing, and more.
