Looking into everyday life through ancient shards

The project, titled ‘Reconstructing the History, Technology, and Uses of Pottery through the Analysis of Pottery Remains from Archaeological Sites in Ras Al Khaimah,’ takes a closer look at how pottery was used in everyday life in the past. By studying pottery fragments from local dig sites, the team is uncovering stories about how people lived, ate, and stored their goods.

Part of a growing heritage movement in Ras Al Khaimah

The work being done in Ras Al Khaimah highlights the Emirate’s growing role in national heritage efforts and initiatives. With support from the Department of Antiquities and Museums, Ras Al Khaimah is becoming a key player in preserving and exploring the UAE’s past. Projects like this not only help protect the region’s history but also connect the community to their history and traditions in meaningful ways.

Findings often make their way into museum displays, workshops, and educational content, sparking curiosity about the history and lives of people who came before us. Learn more at the RAK Department of Antiquities and Museums.
