But, before you make your relocation journey with your beloved pet, it’s important to understand the regulations related to animal relocation to ensure a smooth, hassle-free experience at customs.

Formalities for entering RAK, UAE with your pet:

  1. Microchip your pet: It’s mandatory to have your pets microchipped before bringing them to the country with a non-encrypted ISO 11784 pet microchip consisting of 15 digits. 3. Import papers: It’s necessary to apply in advance for an import paper from the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to ensure a smooth arrival for your pet. This can be done either in person or online, and the permit will remain valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. The Ministry will impose a fee per permit.
  4. Health Certificate: An official Veterinary Health Certificate issued by the exporting country’s government is essential (except for those traveling from the US) to meet the import requirements. This Certificate confirms that your pet underwent a visual examination within 24 hours prior to export, demonstrating good health and freedom from external parasites.
  5. Traveling with your pet to RAK: It’s crucial to review the pet policies of your selected airline before your trip. Upon arrival at the airport, your pet will be examined by the customs and veterinarian department.
