The National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah finds its historical roots in the 18th Century, situated within the ancient fort of old Ras Al Khaimah. Over the last two centuries, the fort has undergone extensive reconstruction and expansion. Initially built as a defense stronghold, it also served as the residence of the ruling Qawasim family until the 20th Century, eventually transforming into a museum in 1987.
Open to visitors Tuesday through Saturday, the museum welcomes guests 8 am–6 pm in winter and 9 am–7 pm in summer; it is closed on Mondays and on the first day of Eid. Tickets are AED 5 for adults and AED 2 for children, and a free guided-tour service is offered when available. Schools can arrange an education programme for students with advance booking. The museum boasts several galleries, each with a unique theme and focus, providing a comprehensive understanding of Ras Al Khaimah’s rich and diverse past.
